What is it?

Halal edible gelatin comes from a variety of other sources and obeys Islamic law. Halal means "PERMITTED" and it strictly prohibited the use of pig-based products (such as food, cosmetics, clothing, etc.) without a license. This edible gelatin of Halal, such as bovine gelatin and fish gelatin performs the same functions as regular pork gelatin.

Once again, there are two words for what is acceptable or unacceptable to Muslims: HALAL and HARAM. Halal means "legal" and Haram means "forbidden”. There are strict rules about how animals are killed and what products do not make it into the food. Edible gelatin is a particularly interesting issue in the Halal diet because it is usually extracted from the bones and skins of animals like bovine, fish and pig.

Why is it halal edible gelatin?

There are two arguments about whether it is halal or not. First of all, if the gelatin uses pig bones, it is naturally not Halal. The second point may be more ambiguous. Muslims are prohibited from eating carrion, and if bones do not count as carrion, animals slaughtered in accordance with Sharia law can be used.

The Halal quality is important to Muslims because it is found in a large number of desserts and other foods. For example, a Muslim must carefully consider desserts such as ice cream, cheesecake and parfait unless it is Halal certificated or not. The same can be said of many cakes, chocolates, puddings and sweets.

One way for Muslims to determine that edible gelatin is Halal is to buy from vegetarian gelatin suppliers. Many gelatin manufacturers, of which the products contain edible gelatin, have switched their production methods to use vegetarian edible gelatin in order to broaden the appeal of their products without having to drastically change the products themselves.

Another option is to buy it from a specific manufacturer or gelatin supplier. These gelatins can be made from cattle dedicated to Allah or from plants that are not contaminated by any pig. There are dozens of Halal certifiers to inspect and issue the Halal certificates for bovine/fish gelatin factories.

Halal certificated gelatin products are limited, but the research is continuing.
